By Bayden Butler, Ballarat, VIC, Australia:
I was 9 yo and this was the first concert I had ever been to. The weather was fine all day. I remember the bands during the day, particularly TMG's "Dina, Dina... mostly because I was a nine year old boy and this was a very suggestive song. If it hadn't been for the crowd finishing the lines I would never have got what they were singing about. Hush and Ted Mulry Gang were on earlier in the day and kept the crowd pumping as well.

Now, at the time my bed time was 7:30 and the most exciting thing I had seen up until this had been Disney on a Sunday night.

Then AC/DC came out fairly late at night, and went off. I was positioned on the top of the fence (separating the stage from the crowd) with my best friend Glen right beside me.

Angus kept losing his shorts, I thought that he hadn't done his short string up properly. For the whole set, I didn't get a good look at his face. The head banging was fast paced as was the music.

It was one of the most incredible things I had ever been to. I still remember it even to the point of being able to see pictures in my mind of that day and night.

I left Korumburra later that year and hadn't returned until I was 15. When I caught up with mates I had grown up with, one of which was Glen, one of the first things we remembered together was that night we sat on the top of the fence and saw AC/DC live in Korumburra of all places. A small country town with about 2500 people.

I will never forget it. I reckon my ears rang for a few days. I didn't sleep for hours after, and the concert didn't finish until midnight.

I went to the Korumburra show when I was 17 and was on the grass oval about 5 metres from the stage with 2 or 3 mates. I don't remember the acts before AC/DC but I remember AC coming on when it got dark & the feeling when they opened with Live Wire was great. Better than any other act. Bon was jumping on top of the giant speakers on the stage & him & Angus never stopped all night. Bon on the bagpipes was a classic and Malcolm standing there headbanging aged about 20. These blokes are icons and when I saw them in Melbourne last week with the new bloke BJ (he's only in his 30th year after all) it was the same feeling. Best band ever!!!!

I was 19 and was a single mum with an 8 week old baby when I went to see AC/DC at Korumburra Vic in 1976.

Time and no doubt substances at the time, has faded my memories somewhat. I do however remember it being really hot and the music was excellent and I did a lot of dancing up close to the stage. The guys seemed young and energetic and rough and wore really really tight jeans!

Hi I went to the 1st Mother Rock - there were only two and after that - the event was cancelled - reportedly due to a pretty severe fatal accident. I would like you to check your dates and see if you can find record of the 75 gig as I am sure they played there in 75.

Myself growing up in Gippsland I was keen to see a band that had shot to prominence Skyhooks at the Sunbury Festival (Deep Purple also played at the show. I came down ill and couldn't attend.) By all accounts there were some great performances and that was Jan 26 1975. Shortly after a one day festival at Koprumburra happened and a new band appeared at it. They were AC/DC.

It was their debut appearance as they played Baby Please Don't Go twice if not thrice and Bon reminded people to buy their album - High Voltage - (It's due out in two weeks and this is our new single so go out and buy it!"

Now I would be a liar if I said I know the tracks but probably a good slab of the album and I saw today a snippet of Dave Evans line up performing Jumping Jack Flash. I think they probably played that to. At a guess. They were still honing their skills. Bon was dressed as a schoolgirl with plaits (St Trinians) and Angus the possessed kid with a guitar. The sound quality gave to be honest very little indication to the average punter of what lay ahead of them. I saw Thin Lizzy in 78 and they absolutely made you leave dumbstruck at their dexterity - (no disrespect to AC/DC). To the AC/DC nuts I suggest checking that you check Jumping Jack Flash and perhaps that may provide some clue as to their early sound. As for the timing they came on about 3 in the afternoon - minimal lighting but their theatrics helped. I could suggest you also check The Star from Leongatha for the archival records - or The Foster Mirror. Maybe The Gippsland Times is from Korumburra - I do recall seeing a brief review in one. The show with Jim Keays Southern Cross was the second one.
As to the line up most are in no order.
Bridge (Melb band - never knew of them to be signed)
    Kush - Sydney band
Madder Lake - Australian band with very good synthesizer ***
Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band - theatrical band with fireeating and zany songs - jug band .***
Chain - positive Chain were there. BLUES ***
Billy Thorpe - legendary rocker from Bris originnally and he wowed the crowd. WE learnt that day why he was absolutely respected as a God at Sunbury. *****
Daddy Cool - Concert now behind schedule - but so worth the wait. Possibly best known for Eagle Rock - but there some crackerjack other songs too.( I disliked this band until I saw them live ) *****
Skyhooks. As expected - they played their first album but were 10 times beter live as were any with an asterisk.

I do wish I had known more of the early AC/DC stuff then. Interestingly - 20 years on the locasl radio 3UL would still play the ORIGINAL Dave Evans Can I sit Next To You Girl on radio. Here is the 1st alb listing and will mark any I recall but at least you know - THIS was their first there.
