It was amazing the great bands that came to Australian country towns in the 70s and 80s. I tell people today that I saw AC/DC - with Bon Scott - at the Moree Town Hall and they think I'm bullshitting. We'd seen them on Countdown and seeing them live was shithot. Bon and Angus were a freakish pair even in 1975 with Angus doing his trademark one handed hammering. I remember reading that after a gig he'd go to his motel and play the entire set again sitting on his bed. Later in the early 80s I saw the Back in Black Tour at the SCG and while it was also excellent, I've never believed that Johnson was a patch on Bon Scott. That said I read that Back in Black was second only to a Michael Jackson album in sales. Other cool bands that I saw in Moree were Skyhooks (who threatened to leave the stage because one of the Koori guys was throwing coins at them and nearly hit one of them in the eye), Ted Mulry, Rabbit and others I've forgotten.
