  • Believe it: AC/DC comes back in Fresno [Fresno Bee, 2009-09-03]
  • Fan reviews:

By Brian J. Brasel, Hanford, CA:
On Sept. 4th, 2009 after 30 long agonizing years AC/DC returned to Fresno, CA to rock the Save-Mart Center!
First, before the boys from down under took to the stage we were treated to an opening act from Ireland named "The Answer", Who played songs from their new album "Everyday Demons" most noticeably of which was the last song in their set "Under the Sky". The Answer more than did their job to prime the already buzzing crowd In a Led Zepplinesque sort of fashion.

From the moment the screens on stage started to project a suggestive train animation featuring Angus Young and a couple of scantily clad women, the crowd were on their feet. When the first strains of "Rock 'N Roll Train hit the crowds ears, the place erupted in a deafening roar! AC/DC did not slow down to give the audience a chance to catch their breath before launching into "Hell Ain't a Bad Place To Be".
Between songs Brian Johnson would talk to the crowd and work them into a frenzy before introducing the next ear splitter.
For as many shows as AC/DC have performed over the past 40 years, they do not go onstage and give a half-hearted attempt at entertaining the masses(which they could easily do), they come out rocking and give 110% to fans who have paid to see a show, fans do not leave the arena disappointed.
As always the highlight of the evening was the extended solo Angus rips into during "Let There be rock" which seemed to last a good 15 to 20 minutes.
A couple of surprise songs delighted the crowd when the band treated them to "Dog Eat Dog" and "Shot Down In Flames".
AC/DC also pulled out the props that fans have come to know and love throughout the years like Rosie and the new train and Hell's bell, and this night was no exception. By the time the cannons fired their last volleys and the last chords to "For Those about To Rock" echoed away, this writer was sweaty, ears were ringing, was without a voice (From yelling and singing along) and just flat wore out, from the sonic assault that I had just lived through.
20 to 30 minutes after the show fans were still smiling and milling about while recounting their favorite moments from the show, the feeling one got was that people did not want the party to end.

    By Terry Zimmerman, Sacramento, CA:
What can I say? Everyone knows AC/DC is the best band to see live! I happen to be one of their biggest fans so I put them on top of any list anyway. The place was so loud my hears hurt, and at 47 years old that ringing in my ears was caused by AC/DC and I will live with it as a badge of honor. I've only seen them a handful of times so I know that I have missed some of their best shows but this one for me, was the best show out of all of them. They played a lot of early stuff which for my was a real bonus. Bon was there! If you know anything then you know he is always there with the boys and they let him know it. I love these guys. They are great people who you don't hear about in the news breaking the law. They are real men who have a real job and they work real hard at what they do. I've been a fan since 1978 and I want to thank AC/DC for helping me get through many of those years when I was flat on my back broken down and didn't see a future. I would play Highway to Hell and get back up off my ass. What the hell kind of man would I be if I let my problems get me down? AC/DC means real business and real feelings towards how to deal with life, women, money and work. Get busy doing what you love. We only get one ride on this thing called life.

Terry Zimmerman, long time AC/DC fan. All the other rocker bands can never reach the bar set by this band.
Take care. I love you AC/DC fans out there. We are family.

    By Mike Lovett, Bakersfield, CA:
This is the third concert I have seen on the Black Ice Tour (I saw the two shows at The Forum in Los Angeles) and I have to say that Brian Johnson sounds better now than back in 2008. This was by far the better of the shows that I have seen. Angus was awesome as always, and the rest of the band was as well. I will be seeing the in San Diego and Anaheim as well. The best part of the show has got to be the solo Angus plays After Let There Be Rock and Booming cannons that are still making my ears ring.

By Bobby Holland, Tulare, CA USA:
Great show . Had 4 generations of my family there. Including my 93 year old grandfather. There was an article in the Fresno Bee newspaper about us at the acdc concert.
