Es war mein 3. Konzert der Black Ice Tour. Zu den Kritiken: 1. Auch bei den beiden anderen Konzerten hat spieltechnisch nicht immer alles geklappt. Zumindest ist Brian diesmal nicht der in-ear-monitor weggeflogen. Kleinere Feler sind doch zu verzeihen. Ist doch eh´ alles schon "geleckt" genug. Rock´n´Roll.
2. Das Dach ist wegen Lärmschutzvorschriften bei jedem Konzert in der Arena geschlossen.
3. Die Stimmung ist eben besser, wenn nicht der halbe Saal am nächsten Morgen arbeiten muss. Der Bierkonsum wahrscheinlich auch. Außerdem rächt sich dann eben das etwas merkwürdige Ticketing. Unser Block - und auch einige für uns einsehbare andere - war jedenfalls nur halb voll...
Eine Sache nervt jedenfalls wirklich ungemein. Aber da kann die jeweilige Band nix für: wie kann man ´ne Arena so unglaublich schlecht planen, das man um viertel nach 1 Uhr immer noch auf dem Parkplatz steht ?
Ich fand´s jedenfalls wieder mal ´ne Supershow.

Despite my long trip from Hamburg to Gelsenkirchen (about 360 kilometers) I was happy to see my second show of the Black Ice Tour after Oberhausen in March 2009 (my 9th show in total). I enjoyed the concert very much. And of course I also recognized some sound-problems due to the closed roof of the arena and sometimes the sound seemed to be a little bit overdriven. I don't understand, why the roof was closed, because there was absolutely no rain to expect. But I also recognized some inaccurate playing by Angus and false entries of singing from Brian. But after all, it was a great show. What more can I expect from these tough guys who nearly reached their 6th decade? Wow! Although the audience wasn't that enthusiastic, the atmosphere was quite good. In comparison to former gigs, it seems, that the canons were less noisy, but maybe I only got hard of hearing over the years.
To consider the results, I would say, that it was worth every cent, being part of the audience, but I would prefer to watch 'em in a real stadium, where the sound comes out more clearly and where it is allowed to burn off real fireworks at the end.

It was a very good show. The sound was correct and the problems during the three songs mentioned by Randy are forgiven! The arena cover was closed, certainly because the weather forecasts were not very good. It was the second show for the Black Ice Tour after Bremen in March for me and I was very happy to hear Dog Eat Dog. The set list was good with the exception of Anything Goes, I have some problem with that song! It could be replaced by a song from Powerage for example!
I am waiting for the next tour.

This was my fourth gig on the Black Ice tour (and God knows which gig in total), seeing the first three gigs in the states last year and wow - there's a world of difference. Even if they were good then (though somewhat shaky) they are now STELLAR. I honestly can't understand the nit-picking of songs because from where I was standing (Front of Stage, Malcolm's side about 10m back) the sound was excellent and I didn't here the band drop a note (it was way, way less than usual anyway).

I had the weekend of my life as we saw Metallica in Oberhausen the day before as a bonus, but I digress ... on to the DC gig.

This was possibly the best AC/DC gig I have seen this far, pure euphoria, all things considered as each member (Brian and Angus in particular) poured every ounce of their souls into the performance. I've said in the past that the last tour that Angus was truly mobile was during the Ballbreaker tour, I'm truly pleased to be proven wrong. I don't know how to describe it but at times there was spark, energy and delivery not seen since the early 80's.

The guitar-tone was more overdriven, louder and more aggressive than I've heard in a long time. It might be attributed to natural overdrive in the PA but nevertheless was a pleasant surprise, I've always liked the less clean sound that they had up until the 90's.

Dog Eat Dog was a nice treat but I was hoping they'd mix it up by playing either Down Payment Blues, If You Want Blood or Riff Raff in its place. Out of the Black Ice songs Rock N Roll Train and War Machine hold their own just fine among the classics, esp. the latter. Anything Goes is a great party tune and works well live. The title track and Big Jack though, while good songs and have grown live they could benefit from being rotated with other great Black Ice songs, why not Money Made and Rockin' All the Way?

A slight letdown was the venue as the roof was closed, it had been raining heavily the night before and most of the morning though and the forecast was shaky for the rest of the day. As I said I can't comment on the sound in the all-over arena as I was getting the full-force of both PA and stagefills where I was standing and it was crystal clear and pleasantly loud.

I would like to honor the German fans as they now, in my mind, have climbed to pole position: simply the best in the world regardless of age, shape and walk of life. They're loud, proud and above all: they know the songs! I tip my hat!

Well, that's about it. I could go on but I'd be repeating myself. On to the next show- See You There!

Leider schrecklich !

Als ich am 17.05. in die Veltins Arena kam, schwahnte mir schon böses.Das Dach der Arena war geschlossen.
Abgesehen davon, dass somit die "Open Air" Atmosphäre fehlte,muss man kein Physik Professor sein, um zu wissen, dass das ungeahnte Folgen auf den Sound haben kann.
Die Vorgruppen klangen schon so schrecklich, da dachten wir noch, es sei Absicht.
Aber als AC/DC um 21.15 Uhr auf die Bühne kam , war es dann die schreckliche Realität, dass auch bei Ihnen der Sound extrem mangelhaft war.
Auch als großer Fan muss man sagen, dass die Band keinen guten Tag hatte und bei Back in Black, Shot down in Flames und Black Ice sehr unpräzise arbeitet, was aber sicher auch in Verbindung mir den Akkustikproblemen stand.
In der Mitte des Sets wurde es dann etwas besser, aber mit uns verließen schon vor der Zugabe ein Teil der Fans die "Halle".
Sorry, das war nichts. Nicht zu vergleichen mit den zwei Open Air Konzerten , die ich 2001 in Hannover und Köln gesehen hatte. Schade !

Gerade wegen des geschlossenen Daches auf Schalke war der Klang dort noch wesentlich satter, wuchtiger und sogar klarer als zwei Tage zuvor in München. Wir standen sowohl in M als auch auf Schalke in "front-of-stage". Die Band war wie immer! In zuverlässiger Hochform! Leider konnte das Schalker Publikum dem Münchner nicht das Wasser reichen. An der Band und am Klang lag´s definitiv nicht. Erste-Sahne-Konzert!

Die Show war schon perfekt, nur die Beschallung nicht. Wie schon auf anderen Konzerten in dieser Arena kann der Tontechniker keine Rose aus einem Kaktus machen. Obwohl ich fand, dass der Sound nach dem 4. oder 5. Song besser wurde, ist AC/DC (im Stadion) nur ein Abklatsch von AC/DC (in der Halle). Wahrscheinlich aber Geschmacksache. Trotzdem habe ich gut abgefeiert, einen riesen Spaß gehabt und fand es trotz aller technischen Mängel (wie oben erwähnt) einfach nur geil. Ach ja, im Gegensatz zur Hallentour spielen sie jetzt zusätzlich "Dog eat Dog". Mini Feuerwerk und zusätzliches Konfetti bei Angus solo ist auch neu. Wie gesagt: Ich fands nur geil...!!!
