yeah the 1st time I seen them. they played at the long gone civic center. its a parking lot now. they kicked ass. no seats in front of the stage or on the floor. before the concert I only had heard a few of their songs. after the concert I bought all the albums they had out. I tell people now a days if you want to see a hard rockin band. go see AC/DC. don't forget your earplugs!!!

Whenever I tell people why I like Rock n' Roll I always begin by mentioning this show first. As in, I went and saw these dudes I'd barely heard about from Aussieland 'cuz I was trying to smash up with this cute chicka and she just HAD to see Journey due to being constantly wet for Neal Schone. Is that spelled right? Sorry, Neal! So, I show up completetly without any pre-concieved notions and was destroyed. As in, my entire opinion of Rock n' Roll was altered permanently. They came out guns blazing and spitting fire. They were hard. They were nasty. They were hellaciously loud. They were every single damn thing you could ever want in a rock n' Roll live show. And when they left the stage we had a chant started to get them back. But it was cut short by the looks we were getting from the hulking Native American security guys in front of the stage were giving us. In any event once ol' cotton and silk pants wearing, foo foo acting, artsy-fartsy Journey came on it was time to leave. And since she drove there I gave her the choice of leaving or staying. She stayed and I never spoke to her again. They were the very best of their day live and I am so grateful even for the opportunity to have seen them live and up close w/ Bon. Thanks Angus! Keep going for ALL of us, brother!

I love talking about this show because we got to see/hear Bon Scott live. It was also the first time any of us had seen cordless mikes/guitars. When Angus got on Scott's shoulders and then went waaaaaay out into the crowd - we went nuts! How did they do that?! Albuquerque subsequently got AC/DC fever. To this day one of the best shows EVER. And Journey leading off the night was the ultimate bonus.

    Front row...unbelievable.
I'd seen just about everyone b4 these guys then (Zep, Stones, Sabbath, Kiss, Purple, etc...) and I'll tell you here and now that AC/DC then was the best pure RnR act I had ever and will ever see. Power, speed, nastiness, all sweat and snarling upper lips. They played for 52 of the best minutes of my life and I'll never forgive them for it. Why you ask? Simple, I've been chasing that same rush since then and have yet to find it with any other band. Damned Ozzie wankers!!! LOL!!! They are the goat. The GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!! Nuff' said.

I went to this concert. I was in high school. I was right up against the stage and reached up and shook hands with Bon Scott. It was the coolest thing I did as a kid.

OK, so the damn concert ticket says GrassRoots/Journey. Announcer comes on and says GrassRoots cancelled, stepping in is AC/DC - they just killed it. It was at the civic and that cool little venue fuckin' rocked! I am reading AC/DC Maximum Rock n Roll biography. Says Bon never played his pipes after somewhere in Europe. That's BS, Bon played his pipes in Alb, NM 1979. The Civic was a round concrete dome thing so the floor was a half moon. Bon comes out stage left with Angus on his shoulders. I start running around with them to Bon's left and he saying hey mate. We run the half moon all the way, I am still next to Bon and Angus. They head back stage and I look back and there's like 30 fuckers behind me all out of breath. Angus appears up on his Marshall and jumps off sliding thru the stage floor knees freakin bleeding. Bon blew away deaf Brian! When Journey came on I fuckin left; they sucked AC/DC Big Fucking Balls!!!!!
