I saw the first of two shows AC/DC performed in Toronto. The show was fantastic, probably one of the best shows of the 7 AC/DC concerts I have seen, every Toronto show since '85's Fly On The Wall. They sounded great, maybe because the Air Canada Center venue was better than the Skydome for the previous two shows. A huge surprise opening with You Shook Me...but a great start. I like the fact they only did Stiff Upper Lip and Satellite Blues from the new cd, those are the only songs I wanted to hear, although apparently they played Safe In NY City the second night in Toronto. The stage show was great, they have really come a long way over the years in giving you a visually exciting show as well as incredible music. The Angus statue was great, I really liked the walkway out to the crowd, it gave Brian and Angus a chance to get a closer, and slap hands with the crowd. The flames for Highway to Hell were great too, and the bell and cannons are consistently a high point. I love the fact that at 53 and 41 years old it did not seem like Brian and Angus had any less energy than the first time I saw them.
The only problem I had was with the set list. The played 20 songs which is great, but they always split the Bon and Brian songs evenly. I know there are A LOT of Bon fans, myself being one of them, but I think its time to realize Bon sung on 6 studio albums and Brian has sung on 9 albums and I think there are some Brian songs that I can't believe they don't do live. Songs like Who Made Who, Moneytalks and especially Let's Get It Up. I don't know about the rest of North America but I remember Lets Get It Up being huge in Toronto. For Those about to Rock is AC/DC's only No#1 album and they only play the title track. Brian sung 10 of his tunes and half were from Back in Black. I think they should drop Get It Hot, Hell ain't a Bad Place To Be and Bad Boy Boogie, which are good songs but because they have so much material to choose from should be left off for others. I would rather hear Jailbreak than Get It Hot from the Bon stuff anyway. Another thing, I know these albums did not do very well sales wise but they don't do any songs from Flick of the Switch, Fly on the Wall, or Blow up your Video. Its obvious they are trying to please both the Bon and the Brian fans but Brian has been with the band 20 years now, its time they do mostly his stuff maybe 11-9 split of a 20 song concert.

What a day ... well ... the day began @ around 12 for me, I woke up and went to the Much Music station where the ACDC boys were going to show up at 3pm. I got in line around 2 pm, got my wristband :) and finally at around 2:45 they let us inside. At around 3:10 Brian walks in, and he is talking to us like we were pals for 20 years. Angus walked in on the other side, so I couldn't salute the young man. I looked around and don't see Malcolm, Cliff or Phil. What a shame ACDC is made of 5 people, not just 2. MuchMusic should have said : Angus and Brian from AC/DC. Oh well ... During the commercial break Angus and Brian were signing our stuff like crazy. When the interview was over they just took all of us out and put the 2 in a limo and they left. We didn't have a chance to say goodbye.
Slash showed up after that, we didn't stick until he was finished because he is not worth it. HE BELONGS WITH GNR NOT SOLO. Like I saw in a couple of hours, SLASH doesn't belong in the Snakepit. If I was Slash... I would get rid of that Axl rose wannabe. I got bored of the Snakepit and went to check out some T-shirts. The prices are like for gold .. $40 a shirt. $50 a cheap soccer Jersey. $40 a tanktop, $55 a really nice shirt with a satellite on. I got that one because it's worth every penny from it. But those prices... damn.. By the time I got back, they were doing the soundcheck ... the sound of that was better then that of Snakepit. At around 8:40 guess who shows up ??? They sounded like always ... GREAT.. The setlist was the same like the one posted by Leigh from Grand Rapids. Now here are some comments. The Toronto chicks sucked big time. During the Jack .. they were showing them on the screen but only one realized that she should take her top off, the other ones were just smiling at the camera. STOOPID !!.. Toronto chicks better wake up tomorrow. Now on the setlist : They should start with Stiff upper Lip and YSMANL somewhere at the end. Also it would have been nice to see : House of Jazz (which is the best from SUL), Hail Caesar and Moneytalks instead of Shot Down In Flames, Hell ain't a bad place to be and Get it hot. But as always you can't have all the songs that you want cause that would meant a 5 hour concert. I'm gonna see the show tomorrow and report on that one too. PS. Angus didn't show his gluterus tonight ... just the Canadian flag undies...

Just got home from the show and it was amazing. I had only seem the guys live on video, and my first show was all I expected. Even my buddy who I brought along thought it was a great show. Highway to Hell was definitely a highlight of the show. If you haven't been to a show, take my word and go. The stage was great as usual, but was quite similar to the one from the last tour. Would have been nice to have seen something different, but hey, why mess with perfection? Like a lot of the previous fan reviews, my only complaint is that they left out a lot of the songs I would have loved to have heard. Moneytalks and Who Made Who seem like two songs that would sound great live. Other than that, I'd be nuts to complain about anything else. I'm headed to tomorrow's show and I'm as pumped as I can get.
