    A demain ac/dc…

Hi there, first of all - i'm not an acdc "fan", i just went there to see them for any reason (that was in nuremberg - as you see above, that was a really great show), so i went to basel also which was a bit disappointing. The show was only about 2 hours, starting at about 8:28 pm with the angus-video and much of the fireworks at the end of the show (the big fire-strikes reaching out of the stage) have been dropped (i think for legal reasons, same happened to Pink Floyd many years ago...).
The band seemed to be, hmm, somehow "tired" this evening, they played their stuff, the duration of the angus-strip was only half of the nuremberg one. They also dropped the big lady dancing on the right of the stage, perhaps it was too windy in the stadium.
All in all, great to see them again and if i've only seen basel it would shure have been really great.

    AC/DC can change the weather!!!

    Final 2001, Cologne
Wow, what a great gig.The weather was very rainy, but who cares. I was in Cologne to see the last show of AC/DC for the 2000/2001 tour. It was fantastic. The middle of the stadion was divided in 5 areas. Two in front of the stage (left and right to the walking track) wich holds ca. 2000 people each, and another two areas behind the first 2. Behind that 4 areas starts the main area. I was early in front of the stage (left side) and when I left this area I got a green coloured bracelet and could come back into this area with this coloured bracelet. That was beautifull, `cause I walked around the stadion and haven`t to wait in front of the stage for AC/DC.
They started at 8:45 p.m. with You shook me. The rest of the songs they played were exactly the same setlist like on the other gigs in Eurpe this year. INSTEAD of Up to my neck in you.
When the time was come for this song, Brian said something special to the crowed. He said: "Well, the next song..." then he turned to the band "... we just rehearsaled that song 35 minutes before..." he turned back to the crowed "... the next song is for all the hardcore fans who followed us on that tour. The song called "GONE SHOOTIN".
WOW. I though it must be a dream but they played that song. And Brian did a very good job. That was f...ing brilliant, because I followed AC/DC on this tour. I saw them last year 12 times and this year 4 times.
The rest of the show was quit "normal". I mean it was great like every show. One of the fans holds a sign that said "tomorrow is Bon`s birthday (55 years)". Brian saw that sign and red it loudly "Well, tomorrow is Bons birthday".
These two highlights where not the only highlights. After the show my friend and me waited for the band, but Cliff and Phil left very quickly. We saw Brian, Angus (his wife Hellen) and Malcolm backstage to leave of some guys from the crew and some fans. Brian left first in a car and didn`t stop for the fans. Then Angus and his wife left and Malcolm followed few minutes later. They all didn`t stopped for the fans (to get some things signed...). But it was okay, because now they have "closing time".
BUT... when my friend and me left the place we saw Malcolm car stopping outside the stadion area. We though, he stopped for the fans but when we arrived his car, he left. He stopped, because the car from Angus and Hellen had a "blow out". They couldn`t leave the place with that car. They waited about 10 minutes for another car.
My friend and me (and only 4 other fans) had 10 minutes to talk to Angus and Hellen, get some things signed, did some pictures and I asled some very IMPORTANT questions. The answers:
    - The next tour will start in 2-3 years.
    - They`ll record another album
    - Helen said, that the ot only the gig from Munich comes on DVD, also the Paris-gig !!! But Angus wasn`t realy sure (but I hope it comes on DVD with "Ride on" !!)
    - there is no release date yet for the DVD`s
I asked Angus what he think about AC/DC fan websites? He said, that's okay to use AC/DC in the adress like this side (www.ac-dc.net) or on other sites (for example: www.my-acdc.com) . He also said, that AC/DC will not make an official webside, because
    - fan sites are much better than the official site
    - who should update the official site ??
I said, that he MUST HAVE A LOOK to this website. At the end of our short meeting he asked me again the exact adress of this site. He definitly wanna have a close look to that page here, because I said, this is the very best site worldwide !!
Finaly I have to say that this last show was one of my best shows from AC/DC I saw (together I saw more than 40 gigs, started in 1980).

The last show on the tour was a blast, literally! Instead of returning to the stage after FTATR with anoter song, like they've done a few times in Europe, the boys scampered off to a barrage of huge fireworks that lit the Dark Köln sky. The band and the explosives were almost as loud as one another, and the fireworks continued for a few minutes. It really was a nice way for the band to tribute its fans. As for the show, it was my first outdoor stadium show and 60,000 people rocked away with the band. I must admit I have heard the band tighter in the states, and the video display was a split-second slower than what was happening on stage, so it looked that the band was lip synching, which they weren't. Brian sounded fine, and Malcolm and Cliff's backup vocals were really strong. A fun show. They played Honey, whaddya do for money, and Problem Child -- both awesome. And they played Gone Shooting, taking me totally by surprise. The intro with the Angus statue video clip and the actual statue busting out on the stage was a nice touch, and should've been done in Philadelphia, the city in my mind where the band was at its best. Köln marks the 6th SUL show I've seen, and I hope there are a few more shows left in ACDC over the next few years.

A great final show for this wonderful tour! I travelled from Vienna to Cologne only to see AC/DC once again, and the show was worth every kilometre. The crowd was fantastic, they played some "new" songs I always wanted to hear live with Brian (e.g. "Problem child"), and best of all, they played "Gone shootin'"! Wow! I had heard that they played "Up to my neck in you" before, but GS was a really great surprise.
The first support act "Cane" was rather boring (except the blonde female singer :-), "Die Toten Hosen", who are very popular in Germany, were quite good. The crowd went wild when they played "Bayern", a funny hate song about the German soccer team Bavaria Munich.
The AC/DC show lasted for almost 2 hours and 15 minutes this time, although they still played 20 songs. Maybe some extra guitar solos during BBB and LTBR, or whatever. Of course the mood in the audience was great during the classics like YSMANL, Thunderstruck, Hells Bells or Highway to Hell. After FTATR there were great fireworks shot to the dark sky. Unfortunately the weather was not very good, sometimes it was raining during the show.

    The set list:
    01. Stiff upper lip
    02. You shook me all night long
    03. Problem child
    04. Thunderstruck
    05. Hell ain't a bad place to be
    06. Hard as a rock
    07. Shoot to thrill
    08. Rock and roll ain't noise pollution
    09. What do you do for money honey
    10. Bad boy boogie
    11. Hells bells
    12. Gone shootin'
    13. The Jack
    14. Back in black
    15. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap
    16. Highway to Hell
    17. Whole lotta Rosie
    18. Let there be rock
    19. T.N.T.
    20. For those about to rock

I have seen AC/DC for the fifth time in my life in Koln Germany on the 8th July. The first gig I ever saw was also in Germany,Monsters of Rock Kalsruhe 1984.
AC/DC is still the best rockband of the world. You can see that theband members are getting older, but anyway their still good !! The best tracks of the evening the Bon Scott oldies and Hard As A Rock. Gone Shootin' was a song I've never heard before. Great!!
I've seen a lot of concert but everytime ACDC gives the best performance. At the end of For those About To Rock there was a great firework. I really hope the guys will rock on. There is one song I still wait for to see live on stage "Ride on" maybe in the future. AC/Dc will be in my heart forever!!! Thank you boys for make my life worthwhile. I was with a friend who never saw ACDC before.
After the concert he needed time to get back on earth again.

Tonight is special, that's AC/DC's last show on this world "Stiff upper lip" tour.
Coming from Paris on the Thalys train i'm on my way to the 60000 capacity 'Mungersdorfer stadion' in Koln Germany.
Just as i was leaving the train you could hear that a party was going on in the city centre, was it for AC/DC?
Not,it's the gay pride, very colourful and noisy but not very rock'n roll, even the heavy rain didn't stop them.
But it was time to go to the stadium, first impression: not as big as the Stade de France in Paris and...far from being sold out, their were lots of empty seats in the back.
Two opening bands tonight: CANE a basic german(?) heavy metal band, not good not bad, even their last song Led Zeppelin's "Rock'n roll" couldn't get the germans go for it.Then we had DIE TOTEN HOSEN,that was a real surprise. This german punk rock band did a very good hour set opening with the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg bop" in memory of Joey ramone who died a few weeks ago.I can't tell you that much about their songs but their are really catchy and the audience really dig them, singing along to all their tunes. They played a good punk version of "singing in the rain" even if it was'nt raining anymore and a good CLASH cover. They are very popular here and they deserved their success only if they could sing in english because with german lyrics it sounds awful. They could be bigger than Offspring but in english please.
Then the "piéce de résistence": AC/DC.On stage at 8.50 sharp, we had a 2H10 min of pure rock' n roll. What can i say that hasn't been said before? That was a pure fantastic evening of ROCK N ROLL.Same set list as usual? Is there a special surprise tonight, for the last night? Are they gonna play a few other songs after 'For those...'?Well yes and no,instead of 'up to my neck in you' they played a stunning version of 'GONE SHOOTING' from 'Powerage'.Brian introduced it with(more or less): "these is an old one,we just have rehearsed it half an hour ago...this is for the few fans we have and this is called..."well i was in heaven but it seems that the germans are still wondering what the hell they played.Otherwise the show was perfect as usual, the sound was terrific(with ear plugs,i'm getting old) and...no they DID NOT come back after 'For those...', remember we had 'ride on' in Paris. At 11 pm they were off for the last time on this tour.We were greated with a very nice bonfire, good night everybody.Another perfect night with lots of singing from the germans except were i was seating,i wasn't surprise it was the guest area.
I have done about 10 shows on this tour,it wasn't the best one but their was a special feeling because it was the last one.Nothing could have top tonight the show they did in Paris.
But the night was not over for me,i managed to get into the backstage when there was nobody at all, apart from a couple of guys who did most of their shows, one dressed with the red school uniform, but they were leaving as i was getting in and sadly for them i don't think they saw the band. I've talk to Angus' wife asking her if tonight was their last ever show. "NOOOOOOOOO..." she answered "...they don't wanna stop now, their will be another tour, probably not next year but their will be another tour." Good news isn't it?
After that i could see them one by one very quickly as they were leaving the venue, there is no party and you couldn't really feel that it was the last show apart for a few roadies that were saying goodbye to each-other.Now that it's over and it's time to go home,i wanna thanks AC/DC for the great time i had on this tour and hope we won't have to wait another five years to see them live and kicking.KEEP ROCKING

In diesem Sinne.Let there be Rock.

- the end -
