Fan Reviews - Week 14, Europe

Although you still can predict almost every content of an AC/DC-show, they fully live up to the fans' expectations. The pure energy and stompin' groove have not let them down since the early years and that's what still makes their concerts to unforgottable events. I can't think of any other band who rocks their way that steadily into the hearts of their spectators. Great show of Brian. My personal favorite: Phil Rudd - if drums don't exist, he would have to invent it! His simple drumplay is just breathtaking.

Angus assomiglia sempre ad uno scolaretto che non riesce a stare fermo...You are the best! Ciao ragazzi, ci rivedremo!!!!

Oh yeah man, AC/DC rocked the town. Absolutely great, they kicked ass!!!!
It was loud, damn, it has to be loud, but the sound was crystal clear with enormous bottom. Fuck, it was the best sounding AC/DC-Gig I ever saw (and I saw some 7 or 8 of them) Angus was a bit more relaxed as usual, but therefore maybe even more precise.Brian's Voice was not too bad either, but the best were Malcolm, Cliff and Phil. What a rhythm section!! Damn, sharp like hell, tight and... well, hard as a Rock.
They lay down the fundament where on Angus can play his licks. And what a drum sound Phil had, a dream.
For me the second best AC/DC-Concert, right after Lausanne '88. CU Guys

We were on the AC/DC concert for the first, but not the last time. Without a doubt, they are the best rock'n'roll band ever. We can't wait for the next time, we'll have a chance to see them again.
The show was just great - audience, stage, and of course the band. They started off with You shook me all night long and we went crazy.
They rocked the house!!! A big Angus's statue, the bell, fireworks between Highway to hell, Angus' s striptease in Bad boy boogie, a big, big Rosie and of course for the great finale six cannons. And they blew us away! For those about to rock... we salute you!!!

(Vielleicht noch kurz: Songliste gleich, außer: Get it hot anstatt Satellite Blues.)
AC/DC RULES. Einfach die beste Rockgruppe der Welt. AC/DC FOREVER!!!

  • I (18) saw AC/DC live in vienna on the 21 of November 2000, and all i can say is WOW. It was really great. Actually I wanted to see them in Munich, but I didn't get tickets anymore. But it didn't matter. The concert in vienna was so perfect that (I think) it couldn't had been better in Munich.
We were a group of 11 guys, and we were all like mad to see at last AC/DC live, and it really kicked our ass! Of course the hall was sold out, and about 10000 fans waited to see THE concert in their life! We waited in front of the hall long time before the admission, to be as close as possible to the guys. We were allowed to enter the hall at 6.30 p.m. and it started punctually at 7.30 p.m. Most of us also liked the band who was playing before AC/CD
(name unknown), although we were really looking forward anxiously to AC/DC.
The band who was playing before AC/CD played about 35 minutes, and at 8.30 p.m. the great show of AC/DC started.
Most of my friends and I were in the first row in front of the catwalk. When Brian and Angus went forward, we were not even two meters away from them. Moreover I touched Brians left hand by his fingers. This was a really great honour for me. It really kicked my fucking ass!
What else is there to say?
The sound was perfect, and also the volume was okay.
I don't agree with other reviews, in which you hear that they were "too loud". In my opinion it was really good, because I think it's very sad that you have to take earmuffs to such concerts. I also had seen Black Sabbath in Munich (17. December 1999), and they were much much louder. You can't describe with words how damn good the concert was. You have to see them live to understand this. It was really an unforgettable experience.
They had all their stuff: The statue, Rosiedoll, 2 screens, flamethrowers, the 6 canons, "hells bells" bell, simply all.
The Setlist was the same, except of playing Get it hot instead of Satellite Blues. I want to thank AC/DC for this great day.
    AC/DC RULES.
SIMPLY THE FUCKING BEST ROCKBAND IN THE WORLD. AC/DC FOREVER !!!

I saw the band first in 1992 Monsters of Rock in Hungary.
Being a big fan I could hardly wait to see them again especially I was curious about what had happened to the guys and anyhow this concert is a must for everybody that calls him/herself a music addicted person.
I am aware of their age and I had no great expectations concerning their physical condition. I would've forgiven them any sign of flying years. I tell you there is nothing to forgive.
At the first song when Angus appeared he seemed to be slow but it had lasted only a few minutes then he traveled back in time( to '79). I was lucky to stay very close to the ramp so I could examine every piece of hair on him. Yes, he is not a teen-ager but he's still that toon-like man who never grows old. Anyhow this band is a trademark and every movement of theirs, every piece of clothes, every instrument they use and every chords they play is a trade mark. One can not imagine the time when they will be out of business but I know I'll miss them very much.
The show was a 100% one except the audience that missed almost all the chances of reaction and didn't give the band the feeling of an interactive gig. God bless you all

Hi there, finally *the day* had come for me and so I headed for the "Stadthalle" in Vienna (which is just a 15-minute walk from my home). The nearer I came, the more 'DC fans gathered around here. Every few steps someone tried to sell me blackmarket tickets. Well, I've had my 1st row seat ticket for months :-)
The merchandising was way too expensive of course, I just bought a tour book (ATS 200) and those little devil's horns with light (ATS 800) :-) I had a great view from my 1st row seat. BTW, I was sitting at Malcolm's side. There was the stage, with the catwalk, and hey, up there was the Hells Bell hanging! At exactly 7:30 pm the Backyard Babies entered the stage. Well ... I think they aren't so bad (however, why do they always talk about rock'n'roll between songs and then play heavy metal?). The audience was quite nice to them, some beer cups were thrown at the stage, but most people (including me) applauded politely, but without enthusiasm :-)
At 8 pm they were finished, roadies entered the stage, cleaned it up and made it ready for 'DC. At 8:30 pm, the lights went down, the very same roadie who's voice I already know so well from all the boots announced them, the lights went back on and there they were!
The set list was obviously the same as in the shows before:

    1. You shook me all night long - I've been sceptic about this as an opener, but you need a song known by everybody to get a lame audience like this to rock.
    2. Stiff upper lip - Really great live, however nobody except a few die-hard fans seemed to know the song :-(
    3. Shot down in flames - Same goes for this one, I was the only one to sing along with this word by word.
    4. Thunderstruck - Man, how great this is live! This was the first time the crowd began to react more, and I was yelling my soul out: THUNDER ... THUNDER ... THUNDER ... THUNDER!
    5. Hell ain't a bad place to be - This was the first one I used my devil's horns for. I put them on for every "Hell" song. People around me were amazed how I always knew which song was next :-)
    6. Hard as a rock - Hey, now the crowd is really rocking! And what's this ... they sing along with it! They know the lyrics! Why? Ah yes, Ballbreaker is one of the few albums coming with a lyrics sheet :-)
    7. Shoot to thrill - Not my favorite BIB song, but it's still great live and it kept the crowd going.
    8. Rock'n'roll ain't noise pollution - I just love this tune, but I was a bit disappointed that many people didn't seem to know it.
    9. Safe in New York City - Now this was a great one! I think I was the only one in my sector who knew the song (not talking about the lyrics), but I was amazed how much power this song has live!
    10. Bad Boy Boogie - This one really had the crowd going, and when Angus pulled down his shorts and the underpants with the red and white Austrian flag were revealed, everybody was going wild.
    11. Hells Bells - What's that, no break? Man, the boys are in shape ... it was a magic moment as the bell was lowered, the bell sound started and Brian was swinging on the rope ... it's one of my favorite songs of all time, and live it's really, really great. The crowd seemed to finally get into it too.
    12. Get it hot - Well, I hoped for Meltdown, but I was amazed how great GIH was live. Not too many people knew the song, but it had a lot of power.
    13. The Jack - I was one of the guys who thought maybe it should be dropped from the set list. I changed my opinion about this. Unfortunately, as Brian told the crowd to sing along and stopped his own singing, there wasn't very much to be heard (at the second show it was better).
    14. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap - Great, great, great! Finally that lame crowd is rockin', and hey, they are singing along too ... ah yes, DDDDC also comes with a lyrics sheet.
    15. Back in black - Another live favorite of mine. Phil played it slower than the Slade version on "Live", but I liked it better.
    16. Highway to Hell - Finally a song everyone knew. Hovever, how can anyone not know the lyrics of this song? But it was really a magic moment as the crowd was singing the chorus together with Brian like one man.
    17. Whole Lotta Rosie - Man, what a great live song and hey - the new Rosie doll can dance :-)
    18. Let there be rock - What more to say ... After this song the lights were turned down, the band left the stage, roadies entered the stage and pretended to begin the "afterworks" (one fumbled around at the drums, etc.). I almost laughed my ass off as the first few guys from the audience left the hall, they didn't know that TNT and FTATR were still to come :-)
    19. TNT - Wow! This one has power when played live! The crowd was also really into this song, the hall was boiling.
    20. For those about to rock - The traditional closing song. The cannons were rolled into position, and they were really loud. I noticed that after the end of the song Brian shouted "We salute you Wien" (the German name for Vienna).

The second show on Nov 22 was exactly the same, same set list and same quality. But my impression was that the audience was more active at the second show. BTW, the first show was sold out, at the second show there were some empty seats in the upper rows.
Ah yes, once I liked Chris Slade better than Phil Rudd. Well, now I've changed my opinion about this once and for all. Phil was great and had a lot of power. He's the greatest drummer in the world! I liked his playing a lot, he plays the songs not too fast (like Slade), you better "get into them". And I liked his performance during the BBB solo and Angus' strip.
Angus has slowed down a little, but not too much, and I've noticed Brian is taking over the task of "audience communication" more and more. He ran from one side of the stage to the other and on the catwalk all the time and mobilized the crowd. This guy is really great, he's swinging from the rope of the Hells Bell like Tarzan, with 53 years! All the boys were in the shape of their life, including Brian's voice which was outstanding.
Now, 24 hours after the second show, my hearing is slowly returning back to normal level :-)

Grüße an alle Fans + LONG LIVE ROCK´N´ROLL!!!

Third concert during this tour. What should I say? AC/DC for many people is always the same. But it's like the first time again and again.... like there is only one other thing, you know what I mean?-).
There is nothing in other reviews, which is not said. Hope that they will come back soon. One word to the opening band: it was, thank god, not Huge Baby again but a punk band. I don't know the name, but they were a good opener for AC/DC.
Ahh, now I remember what to say: during The Jack there was a sex-doll in the audience. Sorrily the band and the camera-man didn't see it. Funny. Let there be rock!!
