Books

Many books have been published on AC/DC during the past two decades, the vast majority of them mediocre or now completely outdated. A definitive biography has finally surfaced with "AC/DC Maximum Rock & Roll." The band has never contributed or authorized any of these books.
AC/DC Maximum Rock & Roll
  • AC/DC MAXIMUM ROCK & ROLL (By Murray Engleheart with Arnaud Durieux)

  • Published in Jan. 2007. (USA & Canada, Australia in Nov. 2006)
  • HarperCollins ISBN 0061133914
  • The ultimate AC/DC Biography. Five years in the making, authors Engleheart & Durieux conducted 75 exclusive interviews for this project with band members and associates, many of them going on record for the very first time. A considerable research was undertaken, digging through a mountain of archives, with over 1,300 interviews the band did for the past 30 years. This 490 page book also includes over 100 rare photos, most of them never before seen.

The band refused to collaborate to this effort but Walker talked to many of Bon's close friends and relatives. Also includes some very rare & unseen pictures of Bon.

  • Get Your Jumbo Jet Out Of My Airport (By Howard Johnson)

  • Published June 1999 (UK)
  • The Black Book Company ISBN 1-902799-01-1
  • Not a biography/history of the band, but rather a collection of articles written by fans & some people associated with the band at one time or another. In my opinion this book, even if its angle is different than the other ones written on the band, is of very little interest, with photos taken either from video clips or supplied by fans. I cannot help but question the author's motivation in compiling this book with "royalty-free" text and pictures... A book to avoid unless you HAVE to have everything, or you're in it.
  • 25 ev (By Sebestyen Laslo)

  • Published 1999 (Hungary)
  • P&S Konyvek ISBN 963-03-6180-9
  • Probably the typical story, but since it is written in Hungarian, I cannot tell you too much. Includes black & white pictures reprinted from many different magazines & a bootleg discography. Also a reproduction of the "Let There Be Rock" movie poster from Hungary, a very rare item!
  • Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy (By Susan Masino)

  • Published May 2001 (eBook on CD)
  • RC 2001
  • Writer Susan Masino first encountered AC/DC in Madison on August 16th 1977 during their first US tour. She immediately befriended the band and one of their roadie, Barry Taylor, and closely followed the band's rise until Barry's departure from the band's entourage in 1980.
In "Rock N Roll Fantasy" you'll read about her story as a music journalist which relates some fascinating facts about AC/DC's early days, and also includes offstage stories on the likes of KISS, Van Halen & Cheap Trick. Also in this eBook are many photos of the band's Madison performance in 1977, and a 30 minute interview Susan conducted (or tried to...) with the entire band in December 1977. This hilarious interview, by itself, justifies getting this book.
