1980-81

Although many shows were taped during Brian's first world tour with AC/DC, very few different shows of the "Back In Black Tour" exist on bootleg. In fact, just 4 shows exist, a poor audience recording from Nice, an excellent one from Tokyo, a soundboard from Melbourne and the first "Monsters Of Rock" performance at Donington in August 81. Best one recommended is the "Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" double album which includes the full concert of Tokyo, now extremely rare, and the recent "Back in Melbourne" double CD.
  • BACK IN MELBOURNE (2 CD's)
  • Disc 1: Hells Bells - Shot Down In Flames - Sin City - Back In Black - Bad Boy Boogie - The Jack - What Do You Do For Money Hone - Highway To Hell - High Voltage - Whole Lotta Rosie - Rocker - You Shook Me All Night Long [Melbourne 81]

  • Bondage Music BON312/313 (Japan, 2004)
  • Note: Superb recent bootleg from Japan, with the complete Melbourne concert from a Soundboard source - although a bit raw sounding - this is nonethelesss an essential release, the only complete concert from the Back In Black tour (and the next to last date of the world tour) in a non-audience recording. Also included is the complete FM broadcast of the Tokyo concert.

  • 666 Productions/Witch Covens WRS 81-1 (USA, 1981)
  • Note: OK, this is actually the REAL original legendary 'Serpents' album. This album, actually called 'Live! Boston 80' (With the mention 'Serpent 666 LSD' in the red circle) was originally reviewed in the bootleg magazine Hotwacks in 1981, which claimed most copies were seized by the FBI before making it into the market. In fact it never made it past the test pressing stage, and no more than 5 copies were manufactured. It is quite impossible to find obviously, and the actual recording of this Boston show, the last of the US 'Back In Black Tour,' still hasn't surfaced among bootleggers.

  • SERPENTS NEW AMERICAN FACISM (Lp)
  • Side 1: Hells Bells - Shot Down In Flames - Sin City [Live Tokyo Feb. 81]
  • Side 2: The Jack [Live Nice Jan. 81] - Shoot To Thrill [Live London 11 Nov. 80] - You Shook Me All Night Long [Live Nice Jan. 81]
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Very good.
  • Witch Covens WRS 81-1 (USA, 1980's)
  • Note: In an attempt to 'recreate' the legendary bootleg 'Serpent' album, a private collector managed to issue a couple of copies as acetate during the 80's, but this has nothing to do with the original Lp mentioned above, which is actually called 'Live Boston 80.' Still quite a rarity but of no interest for the actual content.
